WB Writers Workshop DOES get you a job
A while back I stumbled upon a blog of an aspiring writer that had just landed a spot in the WB Writers Program. I have been following her blog since then to see if this WB Writers Workshop is all that it is cracked up to be.
If I recall correctly, she did not give a lot of details regarding the actual program. However, she did just post that she landed a gig as a staff writer on the show “Cold Case.” And she credits the WB Writers Program with this success.
Those of you who are interested in this program may want to check out her blog. It is called Holliewood. To read her post on getting the word that she is a staffed writer, check out the Hip, Hip… post.
How to convert IVR files to AVI/MPEG/WMV/DivX/MP4/H.264/AVC/RM/MOV/XviD/3GP/FLV/SWF/DVD/etc.
Do you have some IVR files from your Real Player that you wanna use to create some movies or something? If you do, then you prolly noticed that you can’t really seem to do anything with those IVR files other than play them in Real Player.
Well, guess what?
You can do something else with them! There is a nifty little way to work around not being able to use these files. Here is what you do.
- Find the Burn/Transfer Option on the top of RealPlayer. Click Burn to DVD/VCD button to burn your IVR files to VCD.

- The burnt IVR file should be DAT format on your VCD disc. Try to load it into AVS Video Converter by click “ Browse “button.
- Click the formats that you want convert, for example”to avi”button from IVR to AVI Converter control panel.

- Click “convert now” button to start the conversion immediately.
How you filmmakes can convert your MV4 files to MP4 or AVI files
Some of you have sent in questions about getting your shorts into files that will play on a video iPod and other mp4 players. Well, guess what people? There is an easy way to do this. What you need is a video converter. That is just some software that will take your video from one file type and turn it into another.
If you have a mv4 file and you want to make it into a mp4 file you can do that easy peasy with the help of a freeware converter called Any Video Converter. Download it to your computer - it’s super easy to use. Upload you mv4 file like I did and get it changed into a mp4 file. Just like that. It’s really that simple.
Need an AVI instead? You can do that with this schweet little freeware program too!
I’ve tried other converters and I really like this one the best. If there are some nice pay ones, like the AVS converter. Bu why pay when you can do it for free?
Edit: Some of you want to know if mv4 files are different from m4v files - they are the same, just called different things.
Self Publishing Author Earns Over $100,000 in Just Six Months
Here is something that is a bit on the interesting side. A self publishing author has earned six figures in only six months! Can you believe that news? The self published author is Gang Chen and Chen did this with the help of Outskirts Press. The great thing about self publishing is getting to keep all of your rights. And Chen made over six figures and can easily make even more as Chen still retains all of the rights to the work. Wondering what has made Chen so much money? He has two titles that together have done this and they are Planting Design Illustrated and LEED AP Exam Guide. Here is how it breaks down for Chen. For the 3rd quarter of 2008 Chen got a royalty check for $33,679.56 and now for the 1st quarter of 2009 he is getting a royalty check for $77,611.88. And that is how Chen made over six figures in a short amount of time. At least a short amount of time for the publishing industry! It seems like Chen made the right choice to go with Outskirts Press and to cancel the contract that he had with a traditional publishing house. If you are an author as well you will want to see what Outskirts Press can do for you too.
