Update: 4/16/2003: Project had previously been set up at Fox 2000 for Jay Roach to direct and produce through Everyman Pictures. Sheldon Turner will now adapt for $250,000 against $600,000, and Ivan Reitman will direct. 5/15/2008: Jason Reitman is the latest writer on the project.

Comments: Remake of the 1978 film. Chuck Russell will rewrite the original script by John Sayles with elements from the spec script ‘Killer Fish’ by Josh Stolberg and Peter Goldfinger. The original film, directed by Joe Dante, was based on a story by Richard Robinson.

Update: 3/16/2007: Alexandre Aja will rewrite and direct. 5/14/2008: Gregory Levasseur is the latest writer on the project, now planned for 3D.
